Bienvenidos a su blog de catequesis para adultos. Bendito y alabado sea Dios Padre creador del cielo y la tierra, que el Espíritu Santo paráclito nos dé el don del Entendimiento, y que el Señor Jesús Redentor nuestro, nos hable hoy, y sane nuestro espíritu.Amen.
Nuestra misión es de que ud. desarrolle una relación personal mas estrecha con Dios el Señor, que se enamore de su Palabra, la ponga en práctica y la lleve a otros hermanos.
¿Es cierto a como predican los Testigos de Jehova (TJ), de que Cristo no resucitó en carne y hueso, sino que sólo como un espíritu, y ya no mas como Jesús de Nazareth, sino que como el ángel Miguel?
Veamos que dice la Biblia sobre esto. (Mateo 7:24) Así pues,
todo el que oiga estas palabras mías y las ponga en práctica, será como el hombre prudente que edificó su casa sobre roca: cayó la lluvia, vinieron los torrentes, soplaron los vientos, y embistieron contra aquella casa; pero ella no cayó, porque estaba cimentada sobre roca. Y todo el que oiga estas palabras mías y no las ponga en práctica, será como el hombre insensato que edificó su casa sobre arena: cayó la lluvia, vinieron los torrentes, soplaron los vientos, irrumpieron contra aquella casa y cayó, y fue grande su ruina.
Debemos de empezar toda empresa, edificación o construcción, con una base sólida, de lo contrario nuestro edificio se derrumbará fácilmente; de ahí, que nuestra religión no se basa en las palabras de uno de nuestros jefes o lideres eclesiásticos, sino que en la Palabra y persona de Cristo el Señor, fundador, Sumo Sacerdote y Pastor jefe de nuestra Iglesia Católica.
Los TJs (La Sociedad del Atalaya en Brooklyn, NY) al no aceptar que Cristo es Dios, y al basar su doctrina en una Biblia adulterada, han construido su doctrina sobre arena movediza, al igual que el segundo hombre de la parábola anterior que construyó su casa sobre la arena; por muy hábiles que sean los argumentos de la Sociedad del Atalaya (TJs), son nada mas que malabarismo retórico, sin embargo, pueden engañar a cualquier persona con poco o ningún conocimiento de la Biblia.
Pruebas que según los TJ, Jesús no resucitó en su cuerpo de hombre
Evidencia "A" :(1 Corintios 15:45) Esto es lo que dice la Escritura: El primer hombre, Adán, fue creado como un ser viviente; el último Adán, en cambio, es un ser espiritual que da la Vida.
Evidencia "B": (15:50) Les aseguro, hermanos, que lo puramente humano no puede tener parte en el Reino de Dios, ni la corrupción puede heredar lo que es incorruptible.
Evidencia "C" : (1Pedro 3:18) Pues Cristo murió una vez por el pecado y para llevarnos a Dios, siendo ésta la muerte del justo por los injustos. Murió en su carne, y luego resucitó por el Espíritu.
A como ya hemos mencionado en otros artículos, es muy peligroso, el recortar pedazos de cualquier versículo o capítulo de los libros de la Biblia, porque al igual que con las piezas de juego de construcción Lego para niños, podemos arreglarlas en muchas formas diferentes, y construir lo que se nos venga a la mente, nuestra imaginación es el límite.
Es muy fácil sacar fuera de contexto cualquier discurso de los apóstoles, hasta del Señor mismo, y hacerlos que signifiquen lo que nosotros queramos, si son presentados fuera del contexto total de la Biblia.
Los TJs. Presentan los tres versículos anteriores, como prueba de que Cristo resucitó como un espíritu, y que al igual que los ángeles, después de su resurrección utilizó cuerpos físicos para materializarse sólo cuando era necesario manifestarse (hacerse visible) a sus apóstoles y seguidores; podemos leer estas teorías de la Sociedad del Atalaya en sus publicaciones:
(“Things in Which it is Impossible for God to Lie,” ) : “Es imposible para Dios Mentir en Estos Asuntos” ; “Reasoning from Scriptures” (Rasonando las Escrituras) y “You can Live Forever in Paradise” (Puedes Vivir en el Paraiso para Siempre)__( ¿y no es que dicen los TJ que el alma no es eterna? Como entonces viviremos para siempre en el Paraiso?)
Razón por la cual Pablo escribió “Corintios”
El apóstol Pablo, escribió sus cartas a los nuevos convertidos al Cristianismo en la ciudad/puerto de Corinto, quienes habían nacido y vivido en una cultura Griega en la cual tenían creencias religiosas paganas muy arraigadas, los Corintios eran ademas muy dados a los placeres carnales; era como si hoy fuésemos a predicar a personas que viven en muchas ciudades grandes alrededor del mundo, donde los ciudadanos se consideran, 'de mente abierta', 'tolerantes', 'liberales', 'de pensar moderno', 'no criticones' , 'comprensivos' y 'no creen en religion organizada'. Pero, que en realidad viven en lugares donde abunda la hipocrecia, la deshonestidad, la falsedad y la depravación.
Existía en esos días en Corinto,Grecia, un templo dedicado a la diosa Afrodita, con sacerdotisas prostitutas dedicadas a proveer placeres sexuales a los que llegasen a pedir la bendición de la diosa Griega.
San Pablo lo que hace entre otras cosas en la “1 Carta a los Corintios”, es explicarles que la resurrección Cristiana, es algo muy especial, diferente a la reencarnación, pues, algunos de los Griegos tenían la creencia de que uno puede reencarnar, no sólo con otro cuerpo humano, sino que también como un animal, o como una planta, o un palo de Chilamate (por ejemplo).
Los Corintios creían en la reencarnación no en la Resurrección
¿Cual es la diferencia entre reencarnación y resurrección?
Reencarnación es cuando un espíritu renace en otro cuerpo físico, que no es el mismo cuerpo en el cual ha muerto.
Resurrección es revivir (volver a la vida) en cuerpo y alma, en el mismo cuerpo de carne y hueso en el cual uno ha muerto.
Los paganos , sacrificaban animales a sus dioses, el cuerpo (la carne) del animal que probablemente era un chivo, o una oveja, palomas, o un buey; era vendido después en el mercado, pues lo que se utilizaba en el sacrificio era nada mas que la sangre del sacrificio, la mejor parte de la carne del animal sacrificado era ofrecido al sacerdote o sacerdotisa del templo, el resto iba para la carnicería mas cercana, para ser vendida al público.
(1 Corintios 10:23) Todo es lícito, mas no todo es conveniente. Todo es lícito, mas no todo edifica.
Que nadie procure su propio interés, sino el de los demás. Comed todo lo que se vende en el mercado sin plantearos cuestiones de conciencia; pues del Señor es la tierra y todo cuanto contiene.
Si un infiel os invita y vosotros aceptáis, comed todo lo que os presente sin plantearos cuestiones de conciencia. Mas si alguien os dice: Esto ha sido ofrecido en sacrificio, no lo comáis, a causa del que lo advirtió y por motivos de conciencia. No me refiero a tu conciencia, sino a la del otro; pues ¿cómo va a ser juzgada la libertad de mi conciencia por una conciencia ajena?
Si yo tomo algo dando gracias, ¿por qué voy a ser reprendido por aquello mismo que tomo dando gracias? Por tanto, ya comáis, ya bebáis o hagáis cualquier otra cosa, hacedlo todo para gloria de Dios.
A como se nos enseña en “1 Corintios”, los Cristianos le preguntaron una vez a San Pablo de que si era correcto comer de la carne que había sido sacrificada a ídolos ,San Pablo les dijo que no hay nada malo en hacer chorizos de carne de sacrificio, pero, si alguno tenia o sentían reprensión, y sentido de culpa, pues que no comiera de esa carne y que matara su propia gallina de patio. (comentario nacionalizado por mí)
Si vos vivís ahora en otro país donde es normal que las mujeres anden en shorts, y se pongan bikinis cuando van al mar (la playa), pues está bien si lo hacen cuando estén en ese país; pero, si regresás a tu pueblo y la gente se escandaliza porque una señora/srita se pone un bikini para ir a la playa, pues por favor respeten las costumbres locales y que ni tu señora, ni tus hijas usen bikinis o shorts muy cortos, cuando estén de visita por tu pueblo natal.
El apóstol nos da un principio de respeto a las costumbres y prácticas de otros ; siempre debemos de actuar con sentido común y buen juicio, para evitar ofender o insultar la sensibilidad de otras personas.
Refutación a las posición de los TJ con respecto a la Resurrección
Evidencia "A"---- :(1 Corintios 15:45) Esto es lo que dice la Escritura: El primer hombre, Adán, fue creado como un ser viviente (fue hecho del polvo de la tierra); el último Adán, en cambio, es un ser espiritual que da la Vida (procede del cielo o sea del entorno espiritual) .
El apóstol comienza este capitulo 15 de Corintios, asegurando que el evangelio que él predica es el mismo y único evangelio que predican todos los apóstoles; en el versículo 12 les dice: (1 Corintios 15:12) Ahora bien, si se predica que Cristo ha resucitado de entre los muertos ¿cómo andan diciendo algunos entre vosotros que no hay resurrección de los muertos? Si no hay resurrección de los muertos, tampoco Cristo resucitó. Y si no resucitó Cristo, vacía es nuestra predicación, vacía también vuestra fe.
Los creyentes del Orfismo en Grecia, creían que el alma es divina e inmortal, pero que se encuentra prisionera en el cuerpo humano y sólo puede liberarse por medio del ascetismo y múltiples reencarnaciones. Al morir somos juzgados,y lo único que nos salva es el sacrificio ofrecido a Dios, por el Cordero de Dios que quita el pecado del mundo.
Diferencia entre "alma" y "espíritu"
Había un grupo en Corinto que negaba que Cristo había resucitado, seguramente lo hacían porque ellos eran de la creencia de la reencarnación, para ese grupo, era difícil aceptar que resucitarían en su propio cuerpo.
Tomaré esta oportunidad para hacer la diferencia entre simplemente 'alma', y 'espíritu'; lo que haré aquí es presentarles generalidades, pues este es un tema filosófico complicado que va mas allá del nivel de este blog y mi conocimiento.
Todos los seres vivientes como plantas, animales y humanos, tenemos un 'alma', o sea un principio de vida; todos sabemos que solamente Dios puede dar vida, y hasta hoy nadie ha comprobado lo contrario; por otro lado, un 'espíritu' al igual que el alma es invisible, y pertenece a otra dimensión superior al plano natural y material en que vivimos, el 'espíritu' tiene control sobre la materia (como el control de nuestro espíritu sobre nuestro cuerpo).
Un espíritu tiene intelecto y libre voluntad, la capacidad de conocer, de amar, de entender conceptos abstractos como la justicia, la belleza, y tiene ademas la habilidad de hacer comparaciones o de juzgar; a como sabemos Dios es un espíritu, los ángeles son espíritus y el alma humana es también un espíritu; lo que nos hace muy diferentes a los animales pues, no podemos olvidar que Dios sopló al principio, su espíritu en las narices del hombre.
El versículo de (1 Corintios 15:45)---Evidencia "A"--- que les presenté arriba designa a Adam como un ser viviente, o capaz de multiplicarse por medio de la carne (capacidad de fecundar a la mujer), en cambio Cristo al haber muerto en la cruz, ha abierto las puertas del cielo , nos ha hecho a todos hijos de Dios, para que todos los que voluntariamente acepten su invitación a arrepentirse de sus pecados, y lo acepten como Salvador y Señor nuestro, tendremos Vida, y vida en abundancia, porqué?
(Juan 3:16) Porque tanto amó Dios al mundo que dio a su Hijo único, para que todo el que crea en él no perezca, sino que tenga vida eterna. Porque Dios no ha enviado a su Hijo al mundo para juzgar al mundo, sino para que el mundo se salve por él. El que cree en él, no es juzgado; pero el que no cree, ya está juzgado, porque no ha creído en el Nombre del Hijo único de Dios.
Viviremos con Dios para siempre, a como ya dijimos, la vida espiritual, puede ser dada sólo por Dios, recuerden que en Génesis se nos dice que Dios hizo al hombre de barro, y después sopló en el su Espíritu, así mismo Cristo sopla su Espíritu en
nosotros en el momento del Bautismo; antes del bautismo tenemos el 'alma', somo seres vivientes al igual que un gato, pero después nuestra 'alma' se reviste de la divinidad del Señor. Hemos nacido de nuevo.Aleluya!
Argumentan los TJs que Jesús tiene que haber resucitado como espíritu nada mas, de lo contrario habría invalidado la redención del hombre; así de primas a primera pareciese que los Testigos tienen algo de razón, pero, han cometido un error garrafal al no poner atención, y no es nada de que sorprenderse, pues ellos (los TJs) prescinden de la ayuda del Espíritu Santo al querer interpretar las Escrituras.
(Hebreos 9:18) Así tampoco la primera Alianza se inauguró sin sangre. Pues Moisés, después de haber leído a todo el pueblo todos los preceptos según la Ley, tomó la sangre de los novillos y machos cabríos con agua, lana escarlata e hisopo, y roció el libro mismo y a todo el pueblo diciendo: Esta es la sangre de la Alianza que Dios ha ordenado para vosotros.
Igualmente roció con sangre la Tienda y todos los objetos del culto; pues según la Ley, casi todas las cosas han de ser purificadas con sangre, y sin efusión de sangre no hay remisión.
Tenemos entonces la prueba de que es, el derramamiento de sangre lo que afirma la alianza prometida, dejando sin efecto los alegatos de los TJs y para cerrar con broche de oro lea lo siguiente : (Apocalipsis 5:6) Entonces vi, de pie, en medio del trono y de los cuatro Vivientes y de los Ancianos, un Cordero, como degollado; tenía siete cuernos y siete ojos, que son los siete Espíritus de Dios, enviados a toda la tierra. Y se acercó y tomó el libro de la mano derecha del que está sentado en el trono. Cuando lo tomó, los cuatro Vivientes y los veinticuatro Ancianos se postraron delante del Cordero.
Tenía cada uno una cítara y copas de oro llenas de perfumes, que son las oraciones de los santos. Y cantan un cántico nuevo diciendo: Eres digno de tomar el libro y abrir sus sellos porque fuiste degollado y compraste para Dios con tu sangre hombres de toda raza, lengua, pueblo y nación; y has hecho de ellos para nuestro Dios un Reino de Sacerdotes, y reinan sobre la tierra.
Dios ordenó que fuese la sangre del cordero la que se debería poner sobre el dintel y jambas de las puertas de los Hebreos (Éxodo 12:7) , esa seria la señal para que el ángel exterminador no tocara a los moradores de la casa; vemos ademas en (Apocalipsis 5:6) que fue la sangre y no el cuerpo físico del Señor la que compró (redimió) para Dios todos los pueblos de la tierra.
Con respecto a su cuerpo, el Señor nos dice en (Juan 10:17) Por eso me ama el Padre, porque doy mi vida, para recobrarla de nuevo. Nadie me la quita; yo la doy voluntariamente. Tengo poder para darla y poder para recobrarla de nuevo; esa es la orden que he recibido de mi Padre.
Y si aun les queda duda pues veamos (Juan 2:18) Los judíos entonces le replicaron diciéndole: Qué señal nos muestras para obrar así? Jesús les respondió: Destruid este Santuario y en tres días lo levantaré. Los judíos le contestaron: Cuarenta y seis años se han tardado en construir este Santuario, ¿y tú lo vas a levantar en tres días?
Pero él hablaba del Santuario de su cuerpo. Cuando resucitó, pues, de entre los muertos, se acordaron sus discípulos de que había dicho eso, y creyeron en la Escritura y en las palabras que había dicho Jesús. Por favor lean y discutan todas estas lecciones con su sacerdote, manténgase firmes en su fe y pídanle a Dios por todos los que trabajan en predicar la palabra de Dios, por nuestros sacerdotes y por mí, gracias.
Pasando ahora al versículo ---Evidencia "B"---(1 Corintios 15:50) presentado como prueba por los TJ en contra de la resurrección del Señor vemos lo siguiente: si sólo nos concentramos en las palabras-- lo puramente humano no puede tener parte en el Reino de Dios, ni la corrupción puede heredar lo que es incorruptible —pues podríamos deducir que un cuerpo humano no tiene lugar en el cielo y que por lo tanto el Señor tiene que quitarse el cuerpo que utilizó en la tierra y usar otro 'avatar' que sea espiritual.
Sin embargo, volvamos al contexto en el cual se ha usado la frase anterior, y para eso aquí les presento (1 Corintios 15:45) En efecto, así es como dice la Escritura: Fue hecho el primer hombre, Adán, alma viviente; el último Adán, espíritu que da vida. Mas no es lo espiritual lo que primero aparece, sino lo natural; luego, lo espiritual. El primer hombre, salido de la tierra, es terreno; el segundo, viene del cielo.
Como el hombre terreno, así son los hombres terrenos; como el celeste, así serán los celestes. Y del mismo modo que hemos llevado la imagen del hombre terreno, llevaremos también la imagen del celeste. Os digo esto, hermanos: La carne y la sangre (nuestra naturaleza pecadora) no pueden heredar el Reino de los cielos: ni la corrupción hereda la incorrupción.
¡Mirad! Os revelo un misterio: No moriremos todos, mas todos seremos transformados. En un instante, en un pestañear de ojos, al toque de la trompeta final, pues sonará la trompeta, los muertos resucitarán incorruptibles y nosotros seremos transformados.
En efecto, es necesario que este ser corruptible se revista de incorruptibilidad (que aceptemos a Cristo como nuestro Señor y Salvador, tengamos fe, y dejemos de pecar) ; y que este ser mortal se revista de inmortalidad. Y cuando este ser corruptible se revista de incorruptibilidad y este ser mortal se revista de inmortalidad, entonces se cumplirá la palabra que está escrita: La muerte ha sido devorada en la victoria.
Adam no estaba supuesto a morir, dejó de ser espiritual, cuando pecó contra Dios, hasta entonces fue que le dijo el Señor, que moriría, sin embargo ni Adam ni Eva murieron físicamente al instante de pecar contra Dios, su muerte fue inmediatamente espiritual, pues hasta entonces sintieron vergüenza, se sintieron sucios (moralmente) por primera vez, y sus cuerpos comenzaron a sufrir (envejecer) con el tiempo, a como envejecemos todos los vivientes.
En la segunda venida del Señor, los que estén vivos serán transformados por la Gracia Santificante, y los muertos resucitaran no con un cuerpo en descomposición sino que con un cuerpo regenerado, hecho nuevo; ya que nada corruptible puede existir en el cielo. Los ciegos verán, los paralíticos correrán como cabritos, los sordos podrán oír a mucha distancia, y todo seremos perfectos.
En efecto, así es como dice la Escritura: Fue hecho el primer hombre, Adán, alma viviente; el último Adán, espíritu que da vida. Sólo por el hecho de que alguien esté vivo, no quiere decir que pueda dar vida, puede ser
todo lo contrario, ese ser vivo puede quitar la vida, Adam nos transmitió la mancha del pecado original a todos los hombres, porque a como nos dice San Pablo:
(Romanos 6:23) Pues el salario del pecado es la muerte; pero el don gratuito de Dios, la vida eterna en Cristo Jesús Señor nuestro. Adam nos heredó una mancha indeleble, que ningún esfuerzo del hombre puede borrar; pero Cristo el Redentor, sí borra todos nuestros pecados, al verter su sangre como el sacrifico de expiación por excelencia.
Jesús nos ha dado Vida nueva (Juan 6:54) Todo el que come mi cuerpo y bebe de mi sangre, tiene vida eterna, y yo lo resucitaré en el día final (bendita sea la Sagrada Eucaristía). (Juan 10:10)
El ladrón llega a robar , matar y destruir; Yo he venido para que tengan vida, y vida en abundancia.
Evidencia "C": ---(1Pedro 3:18) Pues Cristo murió una vez por el pecado y para llevarnos a Dios, siendo ésta la muerte del justo por los injustos. Murió en su carne, y luego resucitó por el Espíritu. Este es el último párrafo que analizaremos, y después pueden irse a ver la Tele.
La traducción en Español no presenta ningún problema, pues está claro que el Señor fue resucitado por el Espíritu Santo quien es el “Dador y Señor de Vida” (Romanos 1:4) constituido Hijo de Dios con poder, según el Espíritu de santidad, por su resurrección de entre los muertos, Jesucristo Señor nuestro.
Ahora si cambiamos la ultima frase---y luego resucitó por el Espíritu---en: 'y luego resucitó en espíritu'--- pues pareciese que los TJs tienen derecho a estar confundidos. El problema sin embargo es que los espíritus no mueren (por lo tanto no pueden resucitar), especialmente el espíritu de Cristo quien como Dios es eterno; ademas recuerden que durante los tres días que estuvo su cuerpo en el Santo Sepulcro, el Señor bajó a predicar (1 Pedro 3:19) a los espíritus en prisión, lo que demuestra que ni los espíritus de gente común de Israel han muerto, mucho menos el Espíritu de Cristo.
(Romanos 8:7) Las tendencias de la carne llevan al odio a Dios: no se someten a la ley de Dios, ni siquiera pueden; así, los que están en la carne, no pueden agradar a Dios.
Mas vosotros no estáis en la carne, sino en el espíritu, ya que el Espíritu de Dios habita en vosotros. El que no tiene el Espíritu de Cristo, no le pertenece; mas si Cristo está en vosotros, aunque el cuerpo haya muerto ya a causa del pecado, el espíritu es vida a causa de la justicia.
Vemos aquí que la frase 'estar en el Espíritu' no significa que somos espíritus como Gasparín el fantasma amistoso, sino que somos revestidos de poder sobrenatural; Cristo al resucitar en el Espíritu, había recibido gloria de Dios y su cuerpo no estaba sometido mas a las limitaciones del entorno natural; lo que se le pide a los Corintios y a nosotros, es que dejemos de ser menos mundanos, y mas espirituales, buscando siempre el Reino y la Justicia de Dios. Amen, Amen, Amen.
A como es comprobado, las "Evidencias" contra la Resurección del Señor has sido demolidas por la Biblia misma.

Was Christ resurrected in spirit only as the JW's teach?
Well, let's see: (Matt. 7:24) “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
First, let's see why the JW's believe the Lord resurrected as a spirit only and not as the Bible teaches; as you well know we are supposed to start a building on a solid foundation, otherwise our construction may easily collapse; from there we can see why our religion is not based on the words of any of our ecclesiastical leaders, but, on the Word and Person of Christ, the founder, High Priest and Chief Shepherd of the Catholic Church.
The Watch Tower Society in Brooklyn, NY (JW's) in their refusal to accept Christ as God, and basing their doctrine on an adulterated Bible, have built their enterprise on moving sands, just as the second man in the parable above, who built his house on sand ; it doesn't matter how skillful the arguments of the JW's are, they are still just mental juggling, even though, good enough to confuse people with little or no knowledge of the Scripture.
JW's proofs that Jesus didn't resurrected in his own human body
Evidence "A" ----(1 Corinths 15:45) So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.
Evidence "B"----(1Corinthians 15:50) I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
Evidence "C"----(1 Peter 3:18) For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.
As we have told you before, it's dangerous to just clip and lift half verses from the Scriptures, because the same way kids can build any structure with Lego pieces, we too could arrange words and phrases from the Bible and make them to mean anything we want, in both cases, only our imagination is the limit. It is very easy to pull anything out of context, either the writings of the apostles or the words of the Lord himself, that's why when quoting the Bible, let's make sure that whatever is said, it's done within the context of Scripture as a whole.
According to the JW's the three aforementioned verses of the Bible, prove that Jesus was raised as a spirit, and that whenever he needed, just like the angels have done before in time, he would borrow a body to make himself visible to his apostles and followers. You could read this novelty in the Watch Tower publications: “Things in Which it is Impossible for God to Lie”, “Reasoning from the Scriptures”, and “You Can Leave Forever in Paradise on Earth” ( I thought that the JW's say that the soul it's not eternal, oh well!)
Reason why Paul wrote the Letters to the Corinthians
Paul wrote to the new Christians converts from the city/port of Corinth, who were born and grown in a Greek culture with well rooted pagan customs and rituals; the Corinthians were given to pleasures of the flesh, similar to many of today's big cities around the world, where people consider themselves, 'open minded', 'tolerant', 'liberal', 'modern thinkers', 'non-judgmental', 'non-believers in organized religion' and 'understanding.' But, in reality they live in places where dishonesty, double standard , immorality and depravity are abundant.
Corinth, Greece had its own temple dedicated to the goddess Aphrodite, which included prostitute priestesses, and whom offered the service of providing sexual pleasures to the devotees of the Greek goddess; the apostle Paul in his 1st letter to the Corinthians explains the difference between the Christian resurrection and the local believe in the reincarnation of the soul; many people in Greece believed , that one could reincarnate not only as another person, but, also as an animal, a plant or a tree of any kind. ( as a mango tree, for example).
(1 Corinthians 15:39) Not all flesh is the same: People have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another.
The Corinthians believed in reincarnation as opposed to resurrection
What's the difference between reincarnation and resurrection?
In reincarnation the soul is born again in a different physical body than the one we died with.
Resurrection is to be born (to become alive) again, after one has died, with the same body that we died with, and not with any other.
The pagans used to sacrifice animals to their gods, the meat of the animal which probably was a goat, a sheep, doves or a bull, was then sold in the market, since the only thing used in the sacrifice was the blood of the animal, the best meat would be given to the priestess or priest of the temple, and the rest of it would be sent to the nearest meat-market to be sold to the public.
(1 Corinthians 10:23) “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive. No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.
Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience, for, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.” If an unbeliever invites you to a meal and you want to go, eat whatever is put before you without raising questions of conscience.
But if someone says to you, “This has been offered in sacrifice,” then do not eat it, both for the sake of the one who told you and for the sake of conscience. I am referring to the other person’s conscience, not yours.
For why is my freedom being judged by another’s conscience? If I take part in the meal with thankfulness, why am I denounced because of something I thank God for? So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
In '1Corinthians' we see, that someone asked the apostle Paul, if it was right to eat meat sacrificed to idols; St. Paul answered that it was ok if you wanted to make sausage links with the meat bought in the market which, probably was selling some of the meat from the pagan temple,but, if the person didn't feel right about it, or had some reservations or guilt feelings, then, it was better for them not to eat of that meat, and to grow their own chickens. (this is my translation.)
If you're living in a country where women dress showing too much skin, and wear their bikinis on the beach, then , it's ok in that place and there's nothing we can do about it; but, if you and your family go back on vacation to the country or the place where you were born, and it is a place with very conservative costumes; then, advice your wife and daughters to dress modestly, for respect to the local folks.
The apostle is giving us a principle of respect to the costumes and habits of other people; we should always exercise tact and good judgment not to insult or disrespect our fellow human beens and their sensibility.
Refutal to the JW's position on the Resurrection of the Lord
Evidence "A"----(1Corinthians 15:45) So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.
This means, Adam was made from the dust of the earth, Jesus comes from the Father, from the spiritual realm.
The apostle Paul started the 1st letter to the Corinthians, making sure that everybody knew he was preaching the same and only gospel that was taught, and preached by the other apostles; then in verse 12 he says:
(1Corinthians15:12) But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.
Some people in Greece had the Orphism's believes that the soul was divine and immortal, but, it was imprisoned in the human body, and the only way to free it, was through ascetic practices and multiple reincarnations, this believes were probably still practiced by the people in Corinth, this is the people to whom Paul is addressing his letters. It could be that the group of people that denied the resurrection was of the Orphism believe or reincarnation. After we die, we are judged and the only way we can be saved, is by the sacrifice of the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.
Difference between "soul" and "spirit"
For this group it was difficult to believe that they would resurrect in their same body, please, let me take this opportunity to make a differentiation between 'soul' and 'spirit'; I would just give you generalities, since this is a very complex
philosophical matter beyond the scope of this blog and my knowledge.
All living things like plants, animals and humans have a 'soul', which is the principle of life (or life-giving principle) only God can give it; 'spirit' same as the soul is invisible, it is from another dimension, but, has control over matter (as our body); a 'spirit' has a will and an intellect, it has the capacity to know, to love, and to understand abstract concepts like justice, beauty and the ability to compare or judge between different things; God is a spirit, angels are spirit, and the human soul is a spirit; that, makes us very different from the animals and don't forget that it was God who breathed His Spirit in us, right at the beginning of creation.
The verse of (1Corinthians15:45) above, designates Adam as a living-being with the capacity to multiply by the flesh (capacity to impregnate the woman), Christ on the other hand, by his death on the cross, has made us sons of God, by opening the gates of heaven, to everyone that voluntarily accepts his invitation , repent of his sins and confesses Christ as his Lord and Savior, then, and only then, we'll have Life, and life abundantly, why?
(John 3:16) For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
We will live with God forever, as we mentioned before, in Genesis God made man out of clay, and then He breathed His Spirit in man's nostrils, now Christ does the same to all the baptized, He breathes his Spirit in us; before baptism we were just human souls, but, afterward we have been given or clothed with the divinity of the Lord, we have been born again.Alleluia!
The JW's argue that Jesus had to be resurrected only as a spirit, otherwise the redemption of man would've been forfeited; without much consideration, it would seem as the JW's have a case, but, looking carefully we can see they have made a big mistake, and have not consider some important details, nothing strange since they (JW's) have disregarded the counsel of the Holy Spirit, when pondering the Scriptures.
(Hebrews 9:18) This is why even the first covenant was not put into effect without blood. When Moses had proclaimed every command of the law to all the people, he took the blood of calves, together with water, scarlet wool and branches of hyssop, and sprinkled the scroll and all the people.
He said, “This is the blood of the covenant, which God has commanded you to keep.” In the same way, he sprinkled with the blood both the tabernacle and everything used in its ceremonies. In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.
As you can see, this verse proves that it is the shedding of blood that fulfills the requirement of a sacrifice and validates the covenant, leaving the argument of the JW's without effect, no more needs to be said; just read the previous verse and the following verse from (Revelation 5:6), and may God strengthen you faith, and conviction on the teachings of our Church.
(Revelation 5:6) Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. He went and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.
And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.”
Regarding his body, the Lord provides us with: (John 10:17) The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”
The previous verse and the following one, are proof positive that the Lord resurrected in his human body and not as a ghost without a physical body as the JW's teach their followers; please read your Bible and discuss this matter with your local priest, I'm sure he can give great insight and more meaning than we present you here with.
(John 2:18) The Jews then responded to him, “What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?” Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” They replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” But the temple he had spoken of was his body.
After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken. Please pray for all the people that preach the word of God, our priests and for me, thank you.
Moving forward to the verse Evidence "B"----(1Corinthians 15:50) presented by the JW's as proof against the bodily resurrection of the Lord, we can see that if we just concentrate our attention on the phrase---flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of God, nor the perishable inherit the imperishable---then we could almost say that, a human body has no place in heaven, so Jesus would have to use a different spiritual 'avatar'; but, let's go back and look at the context in which the previous phrase was used, and here is a more complete reference:
(1Corinthians15:45) So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual. The first man was of the dust of the earth; the second man is of heaven. As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven. And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we bear the image of the heavenly man.
I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”
Adam was not supposed to die, he stopped being spiritual the moment he sinned against God, he was warned beforehand that, if he disobey God's commandment he would've died, never the less neither Adam or Eve died right after the fall, but, immediately died spiritually after their sin; it was then, that for the first time they were ashamed, for the first time their conscience accused them and felt dirty as filth, and their bodies started to to suffer (grow old) with time, the same way we all now grow old.
At the second coming, the ones who are alive and saved, would be change by Sanctifying grace, and the dead will come out of the tomb, not with decomposed bodies, but, with a reestablished or renew body, because in heaven can not exist any decay. The blind will see, the lame will run like a deer, the deaf will hear from afar, and everybody's body will be made perfect.
Adam became a living-being, the last Adam a life-giving spirit. Just because something or somebody is alive, doesn't mean it can give life, on the contrary, Adam's transmitted the original sin to all mankind, because as St. Paul teaches us:
(Romans 6:23) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. We have all been born with a stain in our soul that nobody can remove, but, Jesus with his sacrifice has made us spotless again, washing our defects with his holy Blood.
Jesus on the other hand, has given us Life, (John 6:54) Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day (Blessed by the Holy Eucharist) . (John 10:10) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (or abundantly).
Evidence "C"----(1Peter3:18) For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. This is the last verse will analyze, then, you can go back and watch TV.
Is this really a good verse to prove that the Lord was resurrected only as a spirit?
Because the phrase “alive in the Spirit” could also and many times is translated “by the Spirit”; which is more acceptable, since it was the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, that resurrected the body of our Lord according to (Romans1:4) who through the Spirit of holiness was appointed the Son of God in power by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.
But let's use the phrase as: “alive in the Spirit”, and you'll see that it still doesn't prove the 'spiritual resurrection only' of the Lord; without any close examination, it may appear that the JW's have the right to be confused here, but, we have a problem, cause spirits don't die, so there can not be a resurrection, specially the Spirit of Jesus who as God is eternal; besides that, remember that while his body was in the Holy Sepulcher, Jesus went down to Hades (1Peter3:19) to preach to the spirits in prison, which proves, that if even the spirits of the Israelites don't die, then, why would the spirit of Jesus die? It just doesn't make any sense!
(Romans 8:7) The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.
But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.
The phrase “you are in the realm of the Spirit” above, does not mean that we are ghosts, similar to Casper the Friedly Ghost; but, that we are clothed or will be clothed with 'supernatural power' from on high; Christ was glorified by God by raising him from the dead, His body is not limited or subjected to the natural realm anymore, and what it's asked from the Corinthians and all of us, is to be less 'carnal', and more 'spiritual' by getting rid of jealousy, lust, avarice, gluttony, 'codices', 'envy' and all our sinful addictions; we should be looking for the Kingdom of God and his divine Justice. Amen, amen, amen.
