Un ministro protestante decidió compartir con su madre su decisión de convertirse al Catolicismo, cuando le dio la noticia, ella lloró mucho y le dijo: Estás seguro que te quieres unir a la iglesia de tahures, políticos corruptos, rockeros, pecadores de toda clase y de la mafia? ( Esta es una historia cierta.)
Su respuesta fue un rotundo: Si, a esa iglesia es a la que me uniré.Seguramente que has oído a gente que se considera tan justa y buena, que creen tener la autoridad moral necesaria para juzgar a la institución establecida por Cristo mismo; pero por favor no permitas que eso te enoje, mejor lee lo siguiente: (Marcos 2;15) Mientras Jesús estaba comiendo en casa de Leví (Mateo), muchos publicanos y “pecadores” se sentaron a comer con él y sus discípulos; porque eran muchos los que lo seguían.
Los escribas del grupo de los fariseos, al ver que comía con “pecadores” y publicanos, decían a los discípulos: "¿Por qué come con publicanos y pecadores?". Jesús, que había oído, les dijo: "No son los sanos los que tienen necesidad del médico, sino los enfermos. Yo no he venido a llamar a los justos, sino a los “pecadores".
De manera que si tu eres santo, por favor no te acerques mucho a la Iglesia Católica, puedes aprender a pecar como nosotros, mejor únete a una iglesia para santos, donde la gente son tan perfectos que no necesitan de confesión ni de ninguno de los sacramentos; dejanos aquí con Jesús, pues a El le gusta participar con nosotros en fiestas y le agrada cenar con todos estos pecadores.
(Mateo 11:16) ¿Con quién puedo comparar a esta generación? Se parece a esos muchachos que, sentados en la plaza, gritan a los otros: "¡Les tocamos la flauta, y ustedes no bailaron! ¡Entonamos cantos fúnebres, y no lloraron!".
Porque llegó Juan, que no come ni bebe, y ustedes dicen: "¡Ha perdido la cabeza!". Llegó el Hijo del hombre, que come y bebe, y dicen: "Es un glotón y un borracho, amigo de publicanos y pecadores". Pero la Sabiduría ha quedado justificada por sus obras".
A como dice el refrán: “palo por que bogas, palo porque no bogas.” Hay gente que no importa que hagas, siempre te encontraran falta y te criticaran; cuando se trata de moralidad y leyes, ellos se consideran perfectos, todos los demás están equivocados o llenos de faltas; en vez de dedicarse a sus asuntos, meten las narices donde no deben, pero, no permitas que te roben tu alegría, como buenos Católicos, sabemos que somos una obra en proceso, todavía no hemos alcanzado la perfección, pero eso pasará mas adelante, cuando el amor de Dios nos purificará de toda mancha y huellas del pecado; por el momento, adoremos a Dios, alabemos al Señor y cumplamos con los mandatos de la Iglesia y la Palabra de Dios.
People who condemn the Church
A protestant minister decided to tell his mother about his decision to join the Catholic church, when he approached her with the news, she cried bitterly and said: Are you sure you want to join the church of gamblers, corrupt politicians, rock stars, sinners of all kind and the mafia? (this is a true story.)
His answer was a resounding: Yes, that's the Church I am joining in.
I'm sure you have heard some people who consider themselves so righteous and pure, that they think they can pass judgment on the institution established by Christ himself; but please don't get too upset, instead read the following:
(Mark 2:15) While Jesus was having dinner at Levi's (Matthew's) house, many tax collectors and "sinners" were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the "sinners" and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: "Why does he eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"
On hearing this, Jesus said to them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
So if you consider yourself a saint, please don't get to close to the Catholic church, you might just learn to be a sinner like many of us, better go and join a church just for saints, for people so holy that don't even need confession or any of the sacraments; leave us here with Jesus, He does not mind being among us, He loves having parties and dining with us.
(Matt. 11:16) "To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others: " 'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge and you did not mourn.'
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.' The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and "sinners." ' But wisdom is proved right by her actions."
Like the old saying goes: “Damn if you do, damn if you don't.” For some people, it doesn't matter what you do, they'll always find fault and a reason to criticize you; when it comes to matters of morals and the law, they are perfect, everybody else is wrong; instead of minding their own business, they like sticking their nose were they shouldn't.
But, don't let them steal your joy, as good Catholics, we know that we are a work in progress, we haven't reach perfection yet, but that will happen later, when the love of God will purify us of all stain and traces of sin; for the time been, let's adore and praise the Lord, let's comply with the mandates of the church and the word of God.
Los escogidos del Señor
En vez de prestar atención a lo que dicen los auto-proclamados 'santos' en contra de nuestra Iglesia, escucha lo que dice el Señor: (Mateo 16:18) “Y yo te digo: Tú eres Pedro, y sobre esta piedra edificaré mi Iglesia, y el poder del Infierno no prevalecerá contra ella.
Yo te daré las llaves del Reino de los Cielos. Todo lo que ates en la tierra, quedará atado en el cielo, y todo lo que desates en la tierra, quedará desatado en el cielo".
Pero acaso Jesús no sabe que esta banda de “pecadores” son un montón de buenos para nada? Por supuesto que si! El es Dios y vino al mundo no solamente a redimirnos, sino también a comisionar a hombres de carne y hueso, y no a ángeles, a llevar a cabo la misión salvífica de Dios; como nuestro creador, El sabe que tenemos el potencial de realizar cosas muy buenas, el Señor no nos garantizó que la Iglesia no tendría problemas, sino que, “las puertas del infierno” no prevalecerían contra ella, o sea que al final triunfaremos contra Satanás y sus demonios.
(1 Corintios 15:54)Y cuando este ser corruptible se revista de incorruptibilidad y este ser mortal se revista de inmortalidad, entonces se cumplirá la palabra que está escrita: La muerte ha sido devorada en la victoria. ¿Dónde está, oh muerte, tu victoria? ¿Dónde está, oh muerte, tu aguijón? El aguijón de la muerte es el pecado; y la fuerza del pecado, la Ley.
Pero ¡gracias sean dadas a Dios, que nos da la victoria por nuestro Señor Jesucristo!
Así pues, hermanos míos amados, manteneos firmes, inconmovibles, progresando siempre en la obra del Señor, conscientes de que vuestro trabajo no es vano en el Señor.
The ones chosen by Christ
Instead of paying attention to what the “self proclaim saints” say about our Church, listen to what Jesus says: (Matt. 16:18) “And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." Then he warned his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Christ.
So, doesn't Jesus know that this group of “sinners” is just a bad bunch of no-goodniks? Of course, He does! He is God and came to earth not only to redeem us, but also to commission men of flesh and blood and not angels, to carry on His salvific mission, as our maker He knows that we have the potential to be very good, He didn't guaranteed that we wouldn't have problems, but, that “the gates of Hades (Hell if you like)” will not overcome the Church, in other words, at the end, we will triumph over Satan and his demons.
(1 Corinthians 15:54) When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."
"Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
La autoridad de la Iglesia
Notemos como el Señor autoriza a la Iglesia a que pase leyes, y estamos hablando de leyes eclesiásticas para el buen funcionamiento de la organización, estas leyes han sido tan buenas que no existe ninguna otra corporación en la tierra tan antigua y tan estable como la Iglesia Católica; hemos tenido problemas durante todo este tiempo? Si, y muchos, pero la misión dada a la Iglesia sigue llevándose a cabo, el Evangelio se anuncia por todo el mundo, todos los días hay nuevos bautizados, almas están siendo salvadas y eso mis amigos, es el meollo del asunto.
Cristo ya ha ganado la victoria por nosotros, ya no estamos excluidos de entrar al cielo, sin embargo debemos de hacernos merecedores de entrar a la presencia de Dios, en otras palabras, nuestra redención ha sido completada, pero nuestra salvación está aun llevándose a cabo.
(Juan 20:19) Al atardecer de aquel día, el primero de la semana, estando cerradas, por miedo a los judíos, las puertas del lugar donde se encontraban los discípulos, se presentó Jesús en medio de ellos y les dijo: "La paz con vosotros." Dicho esto, les mostró las manos y el costado. Los discípulos se alegraron de ver al Señor. Jesús les dijo otra vez: "La paz con vosotros. Como el Padre me envió, también yo os envío."
Dicho esto, sopló sobre ellos y les dijo: "Recibid el Espíritu Santo.
A quienes perdonéis los pecados, les quedan perdonados; a quienes se los retengáis, les quedan retenidos."
Aquí vemos como el Señor confía el Sacramento de la Reconciliación a la Iglesia, les concede el poder del Espíritu Santo para perdonar pecados, esto es similar al poder limitado que se le confiere a un ministro cuando va en una misión al extranjero a representar a su gobierno; el ministro no tiene poderes absolutos ni total como el presidente, pero, en este caso tiene la autoridad de actuar en nombre de su país.
The authority of the Church
Notice, how Jesus authorizes the Church to enact laws, and I am talking about ecclesiastic laws, for the good functioning of the organization, these laws have been so good, that doesn't exist on Earth any other corporation as old and as stable as the Catholic church; have we had problems? Yes! But, the mission entrusted to the church is still going on, the Gospel is been proclaimed, people are being baptized and souls are still been saved, and that my friends, is the crux of the matter.
Christ has already won the victory for us, we are no longer excluded from heaven, nevertheless we must deserve our entrance in the presence of God, in other words, our redemption has been completed, but our salvation is still happening.
( John 20:19) On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven."
Here the Lord entrusts the Sacrament of Confession to the Church, He gives them the power of the Holy Spirit, for the forgiveness of sin, this is similar to some limited power that is confer to a person to perform certain tasks, like when a minister is given the power to represent his president on a foreign mission over a specific matter of international affairs; the minister does not have absolute power or total power like the president, but, in this case he has been given the authority to act in the name of his government.
Cuando nos confesamos, no es el sacerdote quien perdona nuestros pecados, es Jesús por medio del Espíritu Santo en la persona del cura. Por supuesto que hay personas que dicen confesarse directamente con Dios, pero entonces, porqué Jesús dio esa autoridad a los apóstoles y sus sucesores los sacerdotes, si podemos ir directamente a confesarnos con Dios? Es obvio que éstos individuos están cortocicuitando el proceso establecido por el Señor, y al hacer esto, están desobedeciendo la autoridad de Jesús, hallá ellos.
(Mateo 9:1) Jesús subió a la barca, atravesó el lago y regresó a su ciudad. Entonces le presentaron a un paralítico tendido en una camilla. Al ver la fe de esos hombres, Jesús dijo al paralítico: "Ten confianza, hijo, tus pecados te son perdonados".
Algunos escribas pensaron: "Este hombre blasfema".
Jesús, leyendo sus pensamientos, les dijo: "¿Por qué piensan mal? ¿Qué es más fácil decir: "Tus pecados te son perdonados", o "Levántate y camina"?
Para que ustedes sepan que el Hijo del hombre tiene sobre la tierra el poder de perdonar los pecados –dijo al paralítico– levántate, toma tu camilla y vete a tu casa". Él se levantó y se fue a su casa. Al ver esto, la multitud quedó atemorizada y glorificaba a Dios por haber dado semejante poder a los hombres.
En el versículo anterior podemos ver un par de cosas, primero, que ya había gente entonces que creía que podían confesarse directamente con Dios y con nadie mas; en esos tiempos la gente creía ademas que toda enfermedad era causa de algún pecado, en esos días podrían haber deducido que el cáncer era causa de algún pecado cometido por la persona afectada, o cometido por sus padres ; Jesús perdona al hombre sus pecados, no como Dios, sino como el Hijo del Hombre, después transfiere esa autoridad a los apóstoles como hombres de la Iglesia.
Es cierto que si participamos en una relación infiel, corremos el riesgo de ser
contagiados con una enfermedad hasta incurable, pero, no todas las enfermedades son el resultado de nuestro comportamiento; El Señor primero perdona al paralítico sus pecados para demostrar que la salud espiritual es tan importante a como es, tener buena salud física, Jesús prueba así ademas, el corazón de algunos individuos en la multitud; es hasta entonces que, restaura la salud del hombre para concluir la lección a sus detractores.
Para ilustrar la frase del Senor: Qué es mas fácil decir: levántate y toma tu camilla o, tus pecados te son perdonados? otro ejémplo podria ser la historia de un jóven soldado que regresa de la guerra con un miembro amputado (ya sea una pierna, o un brazo), sin embargo los médicos aquí le adaptan una prótesis (en lenguaje vernáculo se diría: una pata de palo) que lo ayuda a ser casi tan completo a como antes; estoy seguro que uds. han visto en la TV como estos muchachos con miembros artificiales, participan en maratónes y actividades atléticas de toda clase, pero, cuando los soldados regresan con traumas psíquicos, la curación no es tan fácil. Se puede curar una dolencia física, pero las heridas del alma, sólo Dios puede sanarlas, no existe ni psicólogo ni psiquiatra que puede hacer que un paciente recupere su sanidad completa.
When we go to confession, is not the priest who forgives our sins, but Jesus through the Holy Spirit by the person of the priest. Of course there are people who say that they confess their sins directly to God; but then, why would Jesus give that authority to the apostles and his successors the priests to forgive sin, if we could do it directly to God? It is obvious that these folks are bypassing the process established by the Lord, and by doing so, are not obeying the authority of Jesus.
(Matt 9:1) Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town. Some men brought to him a paralytic, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven."
At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, "This fellow is blaspheming!"
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, "Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? Which is easier: to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'? But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins...." Then he said to the paralytic, "Get up, take your mat and go home." And the man got up and went home. When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to men.
In the previous verse we could see a couple of things, first, there were already people who thought they could just confess their sins directly to God and nobody else; in those days people believed that any type of disease was the result of sin, for example, they would have deducted that a person suffering from cancer, was because of some sin committed by the sufferer of such ailment or their parents; Jesus pardons this man's sins, not as God, but, as the Son of Man, then He gives this authority to the apostles, as men of the church.
It is true that if we get into some unfaithful sinful relation, we run the risk of acquiring some type of incurable disease, but not all the ailments are the result of sinful behavior; The Lord forgave first the sins of the paralytic, to demonstrate that the healing of the soul is as important as having good physical health, and to test the heart of some individuals in the crowd; then and only then, He restored the health to the man to finish the lesson to his opponents.
Another example to expand the explanation of why Jesus said: is it easier to say get up an go or, to say your sins are forgiven? is a soldier who returns from the battle field with a missing leg; the doctors could easily adapt him with an artificial limb with which he will be as normal as before, I'm sure you've seen on TV youngsters with artificial limbs participating in athletic activities; but, when they come back with psychological traumas, the cure is not that easy; only God could heal the soul, there is no psychologist of psychiatrist who could heal a wound of the mind in its entirety.
When we are sick or suffer of any ailment, let's not forget to pray for a good a speedy recovery; let's pray that the physician in charge of our treatment, is inspire by the Holy Spirit, and recommends the right treatment for our cure; when we go to confession, don't even doubt of the healing power of God, never judge the priest, and with full confidence accept the forgiveness of our sins, knowing with absolute certainty that it is Christ who pardons our faults.
Cuando estemos enfermos, no olvidemos de rezar mucho y pedir a Dios por una recuperación rápida; oremos para que el Espíritu Santo inspire al medico que nos atiende, a que recomiende el procedimiento y la medicina apropiados para restablecer nuestra salud; cuando vayamos a confesarnos, jamás dudemos del poder de sanación de Dios, tampoco juzguemos al sacerdote, y con absoluta confianza aceptemos la absolución de nuestros pecados, sabiendo con certeza que es Cristo quien ha perdonado nuestros pecados.
Jesús promete revestir su Iglesia con Poder desde Arriba.
(Lucas 24:45) Y, entonces, abrió sus inteligencias para que comprendieran las Escrituras,y les dijo: "Así está escrito que el Cristo padeciera y resucitara de entre los muertos al tercer día y se predicara en su nombre la conversión para perdón de los pecados a todas las naciones, empezando desde Jerusalén.
Vosotros sois testigos de estas cosas.
"Mirad, y voy a enviar sobre vosotros la Promesa de mi Padre. Por vuestra parte permaneced en la ciudad hasta que seáis revestidos de poder desde lo alto."
Los sacó hasta cerca de Betania y, alzando sus manos, los bendijo.
Y sucedió que, mientras los bendecía, se separó de ellos y fue llevado al cielo.
Ellos, después de postrarse ante él, se volvieron a Jerusalén con gran gozo,
y estaban siempre en el Templo bendiciendo a Dios.
Jesús a comisionado a este grupo de “pecadores” a ser sus testigos, y antes de ascender al cielo, les promete enviarles al Espíritu Santo, quien los revestirá con “poder de las alturas”; la Iglesia adora a Cristo y después regresan a Jerusalen a quedarse alabando y bendiciendo a Dios continuamente, y gozándose en el amor del Señor.
Seguirían orando hasta el día de Pentecostés a como vemos en el siguiente versículo: (Hechos 1:12) Entonces se volvieron a Jerusalén desde el monte llamado de los Olivos, que dista poco de Jerusalén, el espacio de un camino sabático.
Y cuando llegaron subieron a la estancia superior, donde vivían, Pedro, Juan, Santiago y Andrés; Felipe y Tomás; Bartolomé y Mateo; Santiago de Alfeo, Simón el Zelotes y Judas de Santiago.
Todos ellos perseveraban en la oración, con un mismo espíritu en compañía de algunas mujeres, de María, la madre de Jesús, y de sus hermanos.
En el capítulo anterior presentamos los eventos ocurridos en el día de Pentecostés, y si quieren leer con mas detalle sobre ese pasaje, por favor busquen en su Biblia y lean Hechos capítulos 1, y 2; aquí solamente estoy dando un bosquejo del “poder de Cristo”, los movimientos del Espíritu Santo en la Iglesia, y para demostrales que nadie es un pecador tan malo y sin esperanza, el poder de Dios es mucho mas grande de lo que podemos imaginar, su misericordia es eterna, y si creemos en nuestro Señor Jesucristo y obedecemos sus mandamientos, seremos salvados, sin importar que tan negro haya sido nuestro pasado.
Podríamos decir que Cristo formó su Iglesia con gente que no era tan perfecta, si escuchamos a San Pablo nos daremos cuenta que siempre fue así, o es que creen uds. que Abraham, Moises, David, Isaihas, Pedro y todos los que forman “el salón de la fama del cielo” eran perfectos? Por supuesto que no! Todos ellos fueron santificados por la gracia de Dios por medio de la sangre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo; existe solamente una persona quien fue llamada desde el principio : “Llena de Gracia”. Ella fue escogida, no como en una lotería, sino, por la voluntad del Padre, y aunque ella tenia la libertad de ejercer su propia voluntad, se conformó voluntariamente a la voluntad divina de Dios, puedes adivinar su nombre?
(2 Corintios 12:9) Por este motivo tres veces rogué al Señor que se alejase de mí.
Pero él me dijo: "Mi gracia te basta, que mi fuerza se muestra perfecta en la flaqueza". Por tanto, con sumo gusto seguiré gloriándome sobre todo en mis flaquezas, para que habite en mí la fuerza de Cristo.
Por eso me complazco en mis flaquezas, en las injurias, en las necesidades, en las persecuciones y las angustias sufridas por Cristo; pues, cuando estoy débil, entonces es cuando soy fuerte.
Aquí San Pablo ha pedido al Señor que lo cure de cierto padecimiento físico que ha estado sufriendo por largo tiempo, el apóstol creía que si se curaba de ese padecimiento, seria así un mejor instrumento y testigo de Dios; sin embargo el Señor no nos escoge por que somos fuertes, saludables, inteligentes o perfectos, sino, por que El, es perfecto, y a como nos dice San Pablo en: ( 1Corintios 1:26) “¡Mirad, hermanos, quiénes habéis sido llamados! No hay muchos sabios según la carne ni muchos poderosos ni muchos de la nobleza.
Ha escogido Dios más bien lo necio del mundo para confundir a los sabios. Y ha escogido Dios lo débil del mundo, para confundir lo fuerte. Lo plebeyo y despreciable del mundo ha escogido Dios; lo que no es, para reducir a la nada lo que es. Para que ningún mortal se gloríe en la presencia de Dios.
De él os viene que estéis en Cristo Jesús, al cual hizo Dios para nosotros sabiduría de origen divino, justicia, santificación y redención, a fin de que, como dice la Escritura: El que se gloríe, gloríese en el Señor.”
Si estas dispuesto a servir al Señor y tu comunidad, sos el candidato perfecto para pertenecer a la Iglesia de Dios Altísimo; no permitas que ningún pecado te prive de asistir a Misa, que nada te obstaculice de participar voluntariamente en tu parroquia; no pospongas confesarte ni un minuto mas, reconciliate con el Señor lo antes posible, El siempre te espera, igual que en la parábola del Hijo Prodigo, correrá a tu encuentro a recibirte con alegría, El quiere darte su Espíritu Santo para fortalecerte y guiarte en tu misión para la gloria de Dios.
Ya sea que se te haya dado uno, tres o, cinco talentos; debes de ponerlos a buen uso, no los entierres, hazlos reproducir mas; estudia tu Biblia, lee el misal antes de la Misa, participa ya sea en un retiro o cursillo para que aprendas mas sobre la doctrina Católica y sobre tu Iglesia, seras una persona mas feliz, lleno de vitalidad y entusiasmo, lleno con “poder que llega desde arriba.”

perdónanos, Oh Jesús.

Jesus promises to empower His Church with power from on high.
(Luke 24:45) Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, "This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."
When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.
Jesus has commissioned this same group of “sinners” to be His witnesses, and now before He ascends into heaven, he promised to send them the Holy Spirit that will clothed them with “power from on high”; the Church then worshiped the Lord and returns to Jerusalem to stay continually at the temple praising God and rejoicing in the Lord. They would pray constantly as we can see in the next verse, until the day of Pentecost:
(Acts 1:12) Then they returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day's walk from the city. When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.
In the previous chapter we presented the events on the day of Pentecost, but if you would like to read about it again in a more complete manner, please open your Bible and read Acts chapters 1 and 2; here I'm just giving you an overview of the “power of Christ”, of the movements of the Spirit in the church, and to show you that nobody is a hopeless sinner, the power of God is far bigger than we can imagine, his mercy endures forever, and if we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and obey his commandments, we will be saved, regardless of our sins in the past.
We could say that Christ staffed his church with people that were less than perfect, and if we listen to St. Paul we could see that it has always been the case, or do you think that Abraham, Moses, David, Isaiah, Peter and all the men of the “heaven hall of fame ” were perfect? Absolutely not!
All of them were sanctified by the grace of God through the blood of Christ the Lord; there is only one person whom from the beginning was called: “Full of grace.” She was chosen, not like in a lottery, but chosen because of the divine will of the Father, even though she was free to exercise her own will, she conformed to the will of God, by her own free will, can you guess her name?
(2 Corinthians 12:9) But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Here St. Paul has asked the Lord to cure him from some ailment that was tormenting him, Paul thought that if he didn't have to deal with this health problem he would become a better witness to Christ; but God does not choose us because we are strong, healthy, wise, or perfect, but, because He is perfect, and as St. Paul also tells us in: ( 1Corinthians 1:27) Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."
If you are a willing to serve The Lord and your community, then you are a perfect candidate to belong to the church of the most high God; don't let any sin prevent you from attending Mass, from participating or volunteering in your parish; don't postpone confession any more, reconcile with the Lord as soon as possible, He is always waiting for you, same as in the parable of the Prodigal Son, He'll run out to meet, and welcome you, He wants to give you his Holy Spirit to fortify and guide you in your quest for the glory of God.
Weather you have been given, one, three or five talents; you should put them to good use, but don't buried them, make them reproduce more, study your Bible, read your Missal before the Mass, attend a 'retreat gathering' or a 'cursillo' and learn more about your doctrine and your church, you'll become a happier person, full of vitality and enthusiasm, filled with power from on high.
