No pretendo explicar a cabalidad el misterio del Espíritu Santo, pero creo es necesario familiarizarnos mas con el ‘Santificador de almas’, y a quien y de quien conocemos muy poco, a pesar de ser la Tercera Persona de la Santísima Trinidad.
En las Escrituras el Espíritu Santo es representado en varias diferentes formas, por ejemplo, al comienzo de la creación es representado como un
viento: (Génesis 1:1) Al principio Dios creó el cielo y la tierra. La tierra era algo informe y vacío, las tinieblas cubrían el abismo, y el soplo de Dios se aleteaba sobre las aguas. Entonces Dios dijo: "Que exista la luz". Y la luz existió.
En Pentecostés, el Espíritu Santo descendió a inaugurar, bendecir y proveer a la Iglesia con los dones necesarios para la vida Cristiana: (Hechos 2:1) Al llegar el día de Pentecostés, estaban todos reunidos en un mismo lugar. De repente vino del cielo un ruido como el de una ráfaga de viento impetuoso, que llenó toda la casa en la que se encontraban.
Se les aparecieron unas lenguas como de fuego que se repartieron y se posaron sobre cada uno de ellos; quedaron todos llenos del Espíritu Santo y se pusieron a hablar en otras lenguas, según el Espíritu les concedía expresarse.
Vemos como en Pentecostés, el Espíritu es representado a la vez, como un viento y como lenguas de fuego, fuego que ya antes había sido manifestado en (Éxodo 3:2) Allí se le apareció el Ángel del Señor en una llama de fuego, que salía de en medio de la zarza. Al ver que la zarza ardía sin consumirse, Moisés pensó: "Voy a observar este grandioso espectáculo. ¿Por qué será que la zarza no se consume?". Cuando el Señor vio que él se apartaba del camino para mirar, lo llamó desde la zarza, diciendo: "¡Moisés, Moisés!". "Aquí estoy", respondió él.
Entonces Dios le dijo: "No te acerques hasta aquí. Quítate las sandalias, porque el suelo que estás pisando es una tierra santa".
El Espíritu Santo es representado como el aliento de Dios y el dador de la vida: (Génesis 2:7) Entonces el Señor Dios modeló al hombre con arcilla del suelo y sopló en su nariz un aliento de vida. Así el hombre se convirtió en un ser viviente.
Nuestro Señor, como la Segunda Persona de la Santísima Trinidad, repite esto de dar vida por medio del Espíritu, aunque de una forma espiritual, a como lo hace al soplar el Espíritu sobre los apóstoles en: (Juan 20:20) Dicho esto, les mostró las manos y el costado. Los discípulos se alegraron de ver al Señor. Jesús les dijo otra vez: "La paz con vosotros. Como el Padre me envió, también yo os envío."
Dicho esto, sopló sobre ellos y les dijo: "Recibid el Espíritu Santo.
A quienes perdonéis los pecados, les quedan perdonados; a quienes se los retengáis, les quedan retenidos."
El resentimiento, el odio y cualquier clase de pecado que llevemos dentro del corazón, son un bloqueo para la gracia santificante, no vivas tu vida bajo presión y tensión esclavizantes, libérate, confiesa tus pecados ,y se abriran las compuertas de la fuerza del poder de Dios en ti.
El perdón es un regalo de Dios para sus hijos, El mismo nos dijo que
perdonáramos a nuestro hermano hasta 70 veces siete, el cual es un número infinito, de manera que si nosotros, siendo imperfectos y finitos podemos perdonar tanto, cuanto mas Dios que es infinitamente justo nos perdonará a nosotros nuestros pecados, y nos curará el alma, la mente y nuestro cuerpo.
Como artista divino y el dador de vida, el Espíritu ha realizado su obra maestra en la encarnación de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, en el vientre de la santísima Virgen María: (Lucas 1:28) Y entrando, le dijo: "Alégrate, llena de gracia, el Señor está contigo."
Ella se conturbó por estas palabras, y discurría qué significaría aquel saludo.
El ángel le dijo: "No temas, María, porque has hallado gracia delante de Dios;
vas a concebir en el seno y vas a dar a luz un hijo, a quien pondrás por nombre Jesús.
El será grande y será llamado Hijo del Altísimo, y el Señor Dios le dará el trono de David, su padre; reinará sobre la casa de Jacob por los siglos y su reino no tendrá fin."
María respondió al ángel: "¿Cómo será esto, puesto que no conozco varón?"
El ángel le respondió: "El Espíritu Santo vendrá sobre ti y el poder del Altísimo te cubrirá con su sombra; por eso el que ha de nacer será santo y será llamado Hijo de Dios.
Con respecto a la concepción de Jesús, el Reverendo Mgr. Luis M Martínez (Ex Obispo de México) nos dice: En su nacimiento milagroso, Jesús es el fruto del cielo y la tierra, y así lo percibió Isaías en su poema lleno de esperanza y cuyas palabras la Iglesia repite como un himno en la época de Adviento: (Isaías 45:8) "¡Destilen, cielos, desde lo alto, el Rocío y que las nubes derramen la Justicia!
¡Que se abra la tierra y produzca la Salvación,
y que también haga germinar la justicia!
Yo, el Señor, he creado todo esto."
Esta es una enseñanza concerniente a Jesús, que de forma concisa y precisa la afirmamos en un artículo de fe: “quien fue concebido por el Espíritu Santo… de la Virgen María.” Esta es la forma que Jesús es siempre concebido en nuestro corazón.
Esta es la forma que El es reproducido en nuestra alma. El es siempre el fruto del cielo y la tierra. Dos artistas trabajan conjuntamente a la vez en la obra maestra de Dios y el producto supremo de la humanidad, el Espíritu Santo y la Virgen María. Dos santificadores necesarios del alma humana, porque sólo el Espíritu Santo y María pueden reproducir a Cristo en nuestro corazón.
El Espíritu Santo es también representado por el aceite: (Éxodo 30:23) Consigue especies aromáticas de la mejor calidad: quinientos siclos de mirra pura, la mitad –o sea, doscientos cincuenta siclos– de cinamomo, doscientos cincuenta siclos de caña aromática, quinientos siclos de casia –todo esto en siclos del Santuario– y siete litros de aceite de oliva; y prepara con ellos una mezcla aromática, como lo sabe hacer el fabricante de perfumes. Este será el óleo (santo chrisma) para la unción sagrada.
(Levíticos 8:10) Entonces Moisés ordenó que se acercaran Aarón y sus hijos y los lavó con agua. Después impuso la túnica a Aarón y se la ciñó con la faja; lo vistió con el manto y le puso encima el efod, ciñéndolo con el cinturón, de manera que se lo dejó bien ajustado.
Luego le colocó el pectoral y depositó en él el Urím y el Tumím; también puso sobre su cabeza el turbante, y encima de este, sobre la frente, colocó la flor de oro –el signo de su consagración– como el Señor se lo había ordenado.
En seguida Moisés tomó el óleo de la unción, ungió la Morada y todo lo que había en ella, y así los consagró.
Dios escogió a David y envío a Samuel a ungirlo como rey de Israel; en el bautismo somos ungidos como sacerdotes, profetas y reyes; consideremos que esto es un rito sagrado impuesto por Dios y que no depende del participante o persona que recibe dicho sacramento, sino que del poder de Dios; es por eso que aun niños pueden ser bautizados, de la misma forma que el adolescente llamado David, fue ungido rey, aun antes de poder asumir el trono del rey Saúl por orden de Dios.
(1 Samuel 16:13) Samuel tomó el frasco de óleo y ungió al joven David en presencia de sus hermanos. Y desde aquel día, el espíritu del Señor descendió sobre David. Samuel, por su parte, partió y se fue a Ramá.
La representación mas conocida del Espíritu Santo es la forma de paloma, tal a como se nos describe en (Lucas 3:22) Sucedió que cuando todo el pueblo estaba bautizándose, bautizado también Jesús y puesto en oración, se abrió el cielo,
y bajó sobre él el Espíritu Santo en forma corporal, como una paloma; y vino una voz del cielo: "Tú eres mi hijo; yo hoy te he engendrado."
Repito que esto no es un tratado sobre el Espíritu Santo sino un simple bosquejo que los familiarizara de nuevo con Dios Espíritu Santo desde un punto de vista sencillo, pero que nos hará saber mas sobre el ‘Santificador’ o ‘don (regalo) de Dios’ a como es llamado por Nuestro Señor en su encuentro con la Samaritana:
(Juan 4:7) Llega una mujer de Samaria a sacar agua. Jesús le dice: "Dame de beber." Pues sus discípulos se habían ido a la ciudad a comprar comida. Le dice la mujer samaritana:"¿Cómo tú, siendo judío, me pides de beber a mí, que soy una mujer samaritana?" (Porque los judíos no se tratan con los samaritanos (hoy llamados palestinos).)
Jesús le respondió: "Si conocieras el don de Dios, (es decir: si tuvieras el Espíritu Santo) y quién es el que te dice: "Dame de beber", tú le habrías pedido a él, y él te habría dado agua viva."
Para tener a Cristo en nuestro corazón, o para reconocerlo, es necesario tener en nosotros al Espíritu Santo y seguir los consejos de la Virgen María que nos dice: (Juan 2:5) Dice su madre a los sirvientes: "Haced lo que él os diga."
El Espíritu Santo es una persona, las Escrituras afirman este hecho en muchas formas a como en: (Romanos 8:26) “Y de igual manera, el Espíritu viene en ayuda de nuestra flaqueza. Pues nosotros no sabemos cómo pedir para orar como conviene; mas el Espíritu mismo intercede por nosotros con gemidos inefables.”
(Juan 15:26) “ Cuando venga el Paráclito (ayudante), que yo os enviaré de junto al Padre, el Espíritu de la verdad, que procede del Padre, él dará testimonio de mí.”
El Espíritu nos orienta (Hechos 8:29) El Espíritu dijo a Felipe: "Acércate y ponte junto a ese carro."
(Romanos 8:14) En efecto, todos los que son guiados por el Espíritu de Dios son hijos de Dios.
No mintamos al Espíritu pues El es Dios: (Hechos 5:3) Pedro le dijo: "Ananías, ¿cómo es que Satanás llenó tu corazón para mentir al Espíritu Santo, y quedarte con parte del precio del campo?
¿Es que mientras lo tenías no era tuyo, y una vez vendido no podías disponer del precio? ¿Por qué determinaste en tu corazón hacer esto? Nos has mentido a los hombres, sino a Dios."
Podríamos blasfemar contra el Espíritu: (Mateo 12:31) Por eso les digo que todo pecado o blasfemia se les perdonará a los hombres, pero la blasfemia contra el Espíritu no será perdonada.
Al que diga una palabra contra el Hijo del hombre, se le perdonará; pero al que hable contra el Espíritu Santo, no se le perdonará ni en este mundo ni en el futuro.
El Espíritu Santo es eterno: (Hebreos 9:14) ¡cuánto más la sangre de Cristo, que por el Espíritu Eterno se ofreció a sí mismo sin tacha a Dios, purificará de las obras muertas nuestra conciencia para rendir culto a Dios vivo!
El Espíritu Santo es omnipresente (está en todo lugar):
(Salmo 139:7) ¿A dónde iré para estar lejos de tu espíritu?
¿A dónde huiré de tu presencia?
Si subo al cielo, allí estás tú;
si me tiendo en el Abismo, estás presente.
Si tomara las alas de la aurora
y fuera a habitar en los confines del mar,
también allí me llevaría tu mano
y me sostendría tu derecha.
Si dijera: "¡Que me cubran las tinieblas
y la luz sea como la noche a mi alrededor!",
las tinieblas no serían oscuras para ti
y la noche sería clara como el día.
El Espíritu Santo escribió la Biblia: (2 Pedro 1:21) Pero, ante todo, tened presente que ninguna profecía de la Escritura puede interpretarse por cuenta propia;
porque nunca profecía alguna ha venido por voluntad humana, sino que hombres movidos por el Espíritu Santo, han hablado de parte de Dios.
El Espíritu es la razón por la cual los escritores bíblicos escribieron acerca de eventos futuros, aun cuando ellos mismos no los entendían, pero que divisaron de forma tenue por la inspiración divina. Isaías quizás no entendió el capitulo 53 de su libro, al detallar los sufrimientos de Cristo que él escribió casi 700 años antes que ocurrieran.
(1 Pedro 1:10) Sobre esta salvación investigaron e indagaron los profetas, que profetizaron sobre la gracia destinada a vosotros,
procurando descubrir a qué tiempo y a qué circunstancias se refería el Espíritu de Cristo, que estaba en ellos, cuando les predecía los sufrimientos destinados a Cristo y las glorias que les seguirían.
Canto al Espíritu Santo
Ven Espíritu Santo, llena el corazón de tus fieles, y
enciende en ellos la llama de tu amor.
V. Envía tu Espíritu, y ellos serán creados.
R. Y renovaras la faz de la tierra.
Oremos. O Dios, que por medio de la luz del Espíritu Santo,
instruyes el corazón de tus fieles, concédenos por medio
del mismo Espíritu Santo que tengamos sabiduria, y
que encontremos nuestra alegría en tu consuelo.
Por nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Amen.

English Section
I don’t pretend to explain in depth, the mystery of the Holy Spirit, but we must get familiar with the ‘Sanctifier of souls’, and unfortunately the most forgotten person of the Holy Trinity.
Through out the Scriptures the Holy Spirit is represented in several different ways, in the beginning is represented as a wind:(Genesis1:1) In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless wasteland, and darkness covered the abyss, while a mighty wind swept over the waters.
Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descended to inaugurate and bless the church, and provide her, with the gifts necessary for the Christian life:
(Acts 2:1) When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were.
Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.
We see here, that at Pentecost, the second representation of the Holy Spirit is also present, which is: tongues of fire, which could also be seen in : (Exodus 3:2) There an angel of the LORD appeared to him in fire flaming out of a bush. As he looked on, he was surprised to see that the bush, though on fire, was not consumed. So Moses decided, "I must go over to look at this remarkable sight, and see why the bush is not burned."
When the LORD saw him coming over to look at it more closely, God called out to him from the bush, "Moses! Moses!" He answered, "Here I am."
God said, "Come no nearer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.
The Holy Spirit is the breath of God and the giver of life: (Genesis 2:7) the LORD God formed man out of the clay of the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and so man became a living being.
Our Lord Jesus, as the Second Person of the Holy Trinity, repeats this giving of life, through the Holy Spirit, though, from a spiritual point of view, when He breathed the Spirit on his apostles. (John 20:20) When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.
(Jesus) said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained."
Resentments, hatred, and any kind of sin are like a big blockage to sanctifying grace, don’t live your life under pressure, free up yourself, confess your sins and clear the way to feel the power of God within you.
Forgiveness is a gift from God to his children, He even told us that we should forgive our trespassers 70 times seventy, which is an infinite number, so if we been imperfect and finite, could forgive so much; how much more do you think your heavenly Father will forgive you?
As an artist and the giver of life, the Holy Spirit fulfills his maximum work of art in the incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ, in the womb of the holy Virgin Mary:
(Luke 1:28) And coming to her, he said, "Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you."
But she was greatly troubled at what was said and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end."
But Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?" And the angel said to her in reply, "The holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.
Regarding the conception, the Most Rev. Luis M Martinez tells us: In his miraculous birth, Jesus was the fruit of heaven and the earth. Isaiah foretold this in words breathing forth the poetry of an age-old desire an unique hope, words which the Church lovingly repeats during Advent: “Drop down dew, ye heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain the Just: let the earth be opened and bud forth a Saviour.” (Isaiah 45:8).
This is what we are taught regarding Jesus, with the conciseness and the precision of an article of faith: “who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,…of the Virgin Mary.” That is the way Jesus is always conceived in our hearts.
That is the way He is reproduced in souls. He is always the fruit of heaven and earth. Two artisans must concur in the work that is at once God’s masterpiece and humanity’s supreme product: the Holy Spirit and the most holy Virgin Mary. Two sanctifiers are necessary to souls, the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, for they are the only ones who can reproduce Christ.
The Holy Spirit is also represented as anointing oil:
(Exodus 30:35) Make these into a sacred anointing oil, a fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer. It will be the sacred anointing oil.
(Leviticus 8:10) Then Moses took the anointing oil and anointed the tabernacle and everything in it, and so consecrated them.
David was chosen by God whom sent the prophet Samuel to anoint him as king; during baptism we are anointed as priests, prophets and kings; we should consider that this is a sacred rite, that is not dependent on the receiving person, but on the power of God, therefore, even little children could receive baptism, same as the boy named David was anointed king, even before he could take over the throne from king Saul.
(1 Sam 16:13) So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came upon David in power. Samuel then went to Ramah.
The Holy Spirit is also represented as a dove, and this is one of the most popular representation of Him in the church.
(Luke 3:22) and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."
Again, this is not a treatise on the Holy Spirit but an outline or a simple presentation of God the Holy Spirit, exposed in a simple and direct manner; which will familiarize again many of you with the ‘sanctifier’, the ‘Gift of God’ as it is called by our Lord Jesus in his encounter with the Samaritan woman: (John 4:9) The Samaritan woman said to him, "How can you, a Jew, ask me, a Samaritan woman, for a drink?" (For Jews use nothing in common with Samaritans.)
Jesus answered and said to her, "If you knew the gift of God (that is: if you had the Holy Spirit) and who is saying to you, 'Give me a drink,' you would have asked him and he would have given you living water."
The Holy Spirit is a Person, the Scripture affirms this fact in many different passages, as in: (Romans 8:26) “And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”
(John 15:26) “When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness to Me.”
The Holy Spirit leads: (Acts 8:29) “And the Spirit said to Phillip, ‘Go up and join this chariot.’”
(Romans 8:14) “For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.”
He could be lied to and He is God: (Acts 5:3) “But Peter said, ‘Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back some of the price of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not under your control? Why is it that you have conceived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to God’”
He can be blasphemed: (Matt 12:31) “Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. And whoever shall speak a word against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age, or in the age to come.”
He is eternal: (Heb 9:14) “How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”
He is omnipresent : (Ps 139:7) “ Where can I go from Thy Spirit? Or where can I flee from Thy presence?”
The Holy Spirit wrote the Bible: (2 Peter 1:21) “For no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God”
For this reason, biblical writers sometimes wrote about future events they did not understand fully but saw dimly. Isaiah may not have fully understood the fifty-third chapter of his book as he detailed the suffering of Jesus Christ more than 700 years before it took place.
(1 Peter 1:10) “As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful search and inquiry, seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow.”
Prayer to the Holy Spirit
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and
Enkindle in them the fire of your love.
V. Send forth your Spirit, and they will be created.
R. And You will renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray. O God, Who by the light of the Holy Spirit,
Has instructed the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the
Same Holy Spirit we may always be truly wise, and
Find our joy in His consolation.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
