Siguiendo el ejemplo de Nuestro Señor Jesús, utilizaré una historia para ilustrar el verdadero significado de: "tomar algo fuera de contexto.”
Supongamos que hay una bella y joven señora decide ir de compras en su carro, pero, de repente se para el carro y la deja varada en medio de la calle, por casualidad uno de sus jóvenes vecinos la vio y vino a ayudarla, sin embargo no pudo hacer andar el carro; ya que ninguno de ellos llevaba un celular, decidieron caminar al motel de la esquina para llamar una grúa, .
Cuando entraban al motel, fueron vistos por una vieja chismosa que detestaba a la joven mujer; inmediatamente ella se figuró que la joven pareja entraban al motel para tener un ‘affair’, y en cuanto no mas tuvo la oportunidad, comenzó a regar el chisme, difamando a nuestra bella y joven heroína.
La historieta nos muestra como todo se puede sacar muy fácilmente ‘fuera de contexto’, cuando nosotros a propósito y maliciosamente omitimos detalles importantes, o aumentamos nuestra versión, basados en nuestros prejuicios, odio y malos sentimientos.
En la historia anterior, es cierto que la joven pareja entro al motel, sin embargo el verdadero motivo por el cual lo hicieron nunca fue mencionado, y la vieja chismosa torció el cuento y comenzó a destruir la buena reputación de nuestra heroína. Así mismo hacen muchos falsos profetas con los versículos de la Biblia, los toman 'fuera de contexto' para difamar a la Iglesia Católica.
Recordemos que el tema central del Libro del Apocalipsis, es la persecución de la Iglesia y el triunfo final del Cordero de Dios sobre sus enemigos; que ni se nos ocurra creer que podemos interpretar correctamente cualquiera de los capítulos de este libro independientemente del Libro de Daniel, Ezequiel, Isaias, el Capítulo 18 o el resto de la Biblia.
(Apocalipsis 17) (1)Entonces, uno de los siete ángeles de las siete copas vino a decirme: “Ven, voy a mostrarte el juicio de la famosa prostituta establecida al borde de las grandes aguas. (2)Con ella pecaron los reyes de la tierra, y con el vino de su idolatría se emborracharon los habitantes de la tierra.”
(3)Dicho esto me llevó al desierto; era una nueva visión. Ahí una mujer estaba montada en una bestia de color rojo. La bestia estaba cubierta de títulos y frases que insultaban a Dios, y tenía siete cabezas y diez cuernos. (4)En cuanto a la mujer, vestía ropas de púrpura y rojo escarlata, brillaba con el oro, las piedras preciosas y las perlas. Tenia en la mano una copa de oro llena de las repugnantes impurezas de su prostitucion. (5)En su frente uno leía su nombre, escrito en forma misteriosa; Babilonia la grade, madre de las prostitutas y de los abominables ídolos de todo el mundo.
(6)Y observe que esa mujer estaba ebria con la sangre de los santos y de los mártires de Jesús.
Esta visión me dejo muy sorprendido, mas el ángel me dijo: “Porque te extrañas? Yo te voy a explicar lo que representa esta mujer y la bestia que la lleva, la bestia de siete cabezas y diez cuernos. (8) La bestia que has visto era pero no es va a subir del abismo, pero marcha a su perdición. Y los habitantes de la tierra cuyo nombre no esta escrito en el libro de la vida desde la oración del mundo, quedaran asombrados al ver que la bestia que era, no es y desaparece.
(9)Veamos si uds. son astutos! Las siete cabezas son las siete colinas en que la mujer esta asentada. (10)Y también son siete reyes, de los cuales cinco han caído, uno esta y el séptimo no ha venido todavía, pero cuando llegue durara poco tiempo. (11)La bestia que era y no es, ocupa el octavo lugar, a pesar de que se cuenta entre los siete, y va a su destrucción. (12)Los diez cuernos son diez reyes que todavía no han recibido el poder, pero lo han de tener una hora junto a la bestia.
(13)Están todos de acuerdo para poner al servicio de las bestia su autoridad y sus fuerzas. (14)Pelearan contra el Cordero, y el Cordero los vencerá porque es Señor de señores y Rey de reyes; y junto a El vencerán los suyos, los que fueron llamados y elegidos y le son fieles.”
(15)El ángel prosiguió: “Aquellas aguas que has visto, a cuyo borde esta sentada la prostituta, representan los pueblos, las multitudes y las naciones de todos los idiomas. (16)En cuanto a los diez cuernos y a la misma bestia, cobraran odio a la prostituta, la arruinaran hasta dejarla desnuda, comerán sus carnes y la consumirán por el fuego. (17)Dios se vale de ellos para lograr lo que El quiere; con esta intención les ha inspirado que pongan sus fueras al servicio de la bestia hasta que se cumplan las palabras de Dios. (18) Esa mujer que has visto es la ciudad grande, la que reina sobre los reyes del mundo entero.”
Recordemos que en términos bíblicos el numero siete significa, totalidad o sea que es equivalente a nuestro ‘100%’, a como ya lo hemos dicho aquí en otro artículo de este blog. Lo que significaría que la mujer tiene dominio absoluto por sobre toda la tierra.
Como ejemplo del significa bíblico del numero siete, revisemos el siguiente pasaje: (Apocalipsis 1:4) Juan,
El hecho que Juan se dirija a siete diferentes iglesias por nombre no significa que existan muchas iglesias diferentes, no, existe una sola iglesia establecida por Nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesúcristo, de manera que aquí Juan se dirige a siete iglesias como símbolo de la totalidad de los fieles del Señor, y menciona diferentes faltas que pueden afectar a la Iglesia.
En otras palabras, Juan podría haber dicho: “A la iglesia Católica de Nicaragua, y a la iglesia Católica de Costa Rica, la iglesia Católica de Panamá, la iglesia Católica de Colombia, la iglesia Católica de México, la iglesia Católica de Honduras y a la iglesia Católica de El Salvador.”
Pero existen diferentes iglesias Católicas en esta región?
Absolutamente no! Existe una sola Iglesia Católica y punto. O sea que Juan se dirigía a las diferentes "diócesis" de la región.
Existe un sólo Espíritu o existen siete espíritus? Por supuesto que existe un solo Espíritu Santo, pero el tiene siete diferentes dones especiales para dar a los fieles, y Juan en el versículo anterior se refería a la plenitud del ser del Espíritu, de manera que mantengamos en mente que el numero siete

Escuchemos ahora lo que el ángel dijo a Juan: (7)Esta visión me dejo muy sorprendido, mas el ángel me dijo: “Porque te extrañas? Nada de lo que ha dicho el ángel describe a la mujer como una religión, sin embargo la describe como una nación (ciudad) muy poderosa. (18) “Esa mujer que has visto es la ciudad grande, la que reina sobre los reyes del mundo entero.”
De manera que déjenme preguntarles, pueden pensar uds. en un país muy poderoso,y rico que influencia al resto del mundo que existe hoy en día? Existe hoy una nación que ha emborrachado a todo el mundo con sus películas, inmoralidad, pornografía, música, modas y costumbres? Existe hoy en día una nación que ha comprado la dignidad y el orgullo de muchos países pequeños?
Si alguien responde que esa ciudad es la Iglesia Católica (El Vaticano), pues está muy equivocado ya que la Iglesia no tiene dominio ni siquiera sobre sus fieles Católicos, mucho menos tendrá dominio sobre los países del mundo o, en asuntos internacionales.
Algunos interpretan a Roma como la ciudad construida sobre las siete colinas, pero a como ya hemos recalcado, el ángel mismo habla de que las colinas pueden ser también siete reyes, (9)Veamos si uds. son astutos! Las siete cabezas son las siete colinas en que la mujer está asentada. (10)Y también son siete reyes, o a como decimos ahora los G-7(Canada,Japan,USA,Inglaterra,Francia,Alemania,Italia), o países industriales mas grandes del mundo; también notemos que la palabra griega usada es “horos” que de sesenta y cinco veces que se menciona en el Nuevo Testamento, solamente es traducida tres veces como colina por la Biblia Protestante versión de King James.
Esa palabra es mejor traducida como montaña y no colina, además las ‘montañas’ o ‘montes’ usualmente en la Biblia se refieren a reinos o pueblos, o a lo mejor en este caso se refiere sólo a los reyes (naciones) con los que la ‘mujer’ tiene negocios grandes.
Pero aun si aceptamos la traducción de ‘colinas’, tendremos el problema que no sólo Roma está construida sobre siete colinas; Jerusalén y Estambul por ejemplo también es conocida como la ciudad de las siete colinas, pero, aun si aceptamos que el pasaje habla de Roma, tendremos el problema de que Ciudad Vaticano no existe sobre ninguna de las siete colinas de Roma, sino que está construida precisamente sobre la Colina Vaticana (Collis Vaticanus) que está localizada al oeste del río Tiber, mientras Roma queda al este del mismo río.
Si examinamos de cerca a la mujer y la bestia, notaremos que ella (la mujer) es el ser inteligente entre los dos, además está sentada sobre la bestia, lo cual realmente quiere decir que tiene poder y control sobre el animal, la bestia por el hecho de tener siete cabezas demuestra
Que pasó en las ultimas elecciones en Nicaragua? La llamada oposición o, partidos que representaban a la democracia, se dividieron y presentaron dos candidatos por separados (una bestia de dos cabezas), por lo tanto la izquierda que tenia una sola cabeza, ganó las elecciones. Comprendes, Méndez?
De manera que cuando se dice que esta “sentada” sobre la bestia, lo que quiere decir es que “la mujer” ejerce poder y dominio. Por ejemplo: El Presidente de USA se sienta en Washington DC; lo que quiere decir que la capital (la sede) de USA esta en Washington DC; y no literalmente que el Presidente se sienta (en una silla) en el 1600 de Pennsylvania Ave.
La bestia realmente representa sistemas de gobierno, naciones y sistemas políticos o ideológicos; a como sucedió con el comunismo, la iluminación, etc. Estos movimientos o sistemas

Regresemos nuestra mirada de nuevo a la mujer, el hecho de que se describe vestida de púrpura y escarlata, no quiere decir que son los colores preferidos de la mujer, sino que esto denota realeza (ser muy adinerada); así como los reyes árabes y los billonarios y millonarios del mundo, se visten solo con ropa de la mas fina y cara que existe en las tiendas.
Debido a su opulencia la mujer puede darse el lujo de utilizar copas de oro, pero esto es solo un símbolo de su riqueza. Además las copas son el utensilio necesario para beber vino y néctar, o es que creen que los que toman vino lo hacen en ‘pocillos de loza ’ o en ‘huacales de Masaya’? Que absurdo!
Recordemos que los profetas de antaño, utilizaban el termino “prostitucion” para referirse al hecho de que Israel se había dedicado a servir a ‘otros dioses’ o, a practicar la religión de los paganos que es la misma cosa; sin embargo la ‘prostitucion’ no es exclusiva de los religiosos, pues hoy en día mucha gente se prostituye por amor al dinero, especialmente la clase política. (1Timoteo 6:10) Está comprobado que la raíz de todos los males es
La Iglesia Católica jamás ha dejado de adorar al único y verdadero Dios, se ha mantenido firme y ha conservado el depósito de la fe; Dios Nuestro Padre por eso la protege, aunque a veces como toda institución gobernada por hombres se desvíe un poco; El Señor nuestro Dios Jesús y el Espíritu Santo, la hacen volver a corregir cualquier mal comportamiento de sus miembros, y a volver al camino de la santidad. Bendita sea la Iglesia Católica.

Following the example of our Lord Jesus Christ, I’ll use a little story to illustrate the real meaning of: taken something ‘out of context’.
Let’s suppose that there is a beautiful married woman who was driving her car on her way to the stores, when all of a sudden the car brakes down and leaves her stranded in the middle of the street, by coincidence a young male neighbor of her who was going by came to her rescue; but, he is unable to fix the car and since neither one of them carried a cellular phone, decided to walk down the street where there was a motel, to use the public phone and called for a tow truck.
When they were entering the office of the motel, they were seen by an older woman who envied and disliked the young lady, she immediately figured out that the young couple were entering the motel to have an affair, and as soon as she can, called her other friends to spread the gossip, but by now, she had already added that she has always suspected of the nice woman of being of loose conduct; and as you can imagine the good reputation of our heroine was immediately put into doubt.
The above story illustrates, how easily anything can be taken ‘out of context’, when we purposely and maliciously omit some important information; in our story, it was true that the young couple entered the motel, but the real reason why they did it was never mention by the gossiper, since she didn’t have all the facts; but that didn’t matter to her, because she constructed out of the hardness of her heart and base on her own prejudice and envy a complete false story. She took everything out of context, the same way many verses of the Bible could be and are always taken out of context by some false prophets, to discredit the Catholic Church.
Let’s remember that the theme of the book of Revelation is the persecution of the Church and the final triumph of the Lamb of God over his enemies; we can not take any chapter by itself and think that we would understand it independently from all the rest of the Bible; the ‘famous chapter 17’ should be read in context with Daniel and Ezequiel specially, and chapter 18 of the book of Revelation, and all the rest of the Bible.
(Revelation 17:1) One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits on many waters. (2) With her the kings of the earth committed adultery and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries.”
(3) Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into the desert. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns. (4) The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries.
(5) This title was written on her forehead: Mystery, 
(6) I saw that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints, the blood of those who bore testimony to Jesus. When I saw her I was greatly astonished. (7) Then the angel said to me: “Why are you astonished? I will explain to you the mystery of the woman and of the beast she rides, which has the seven heads and ten horns. (8) The beast that you saw, once was, now is not, and will come up out the Abyss and to his destruction.
The inhabitants of the earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the creation of the world will be astonished when they see the beast, because he once was, now is not, and yet will come. (9) This call for a mind of wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits. (10) They are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for a little while. (11) The beast who once was, and now is not, is an eighth king. He belongs to the seven and is going to his destruction.
(12) The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the beast. (13) They have one purpose and will give their power and authority to the beast. (14) They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because He is Lord of lords and King of kings –and with Him will be His called, chosen and faithful followers.”
(15) Then the angel said to me, “The waters you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes of nations and languages. (16) The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire. (17) For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to give the beast their power to rule, until God’s words are fulfilled. (18) The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.”
First, let’s pay attention to what the angel said to John, when he gave an explanation of the meaning of the ‘woman’ and the ‘beast’, this could help us understand a little bit of the mystery of this allegorical figure, which by the way, we would never understand or have a complete explanation of it, until we go to ‘heaven’ and The Holy Spirit or an angel will explain everything that we can not understand now in this life.
Let's remember that in biblical terms the number seven signifies 'completeness' or equivalence to our modern: 100%; as we have mentioned before in another article in this blog. Which could mean that the 'woman' reigns absolutely over the whole earth.
As an example or the biblical meaning of the number seven, let’s review the following passage: (Revelation 1:4) John, to the seven churches in the province of Asia: grace and peace to you from Him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth... (Revelation 1:10) On the Lord's Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, which said: "Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum,Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea."
The fact that John is addressing seven different churches by name, does not mean that there are many different churches, no, there is only one church established by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; in this case John addresses the seven churches as the totality of the faithful followers of the Lord, and he mentions different faults that could affect the elects.
In other words, John could have said: To the Catholic Church in
John was just addressing the different dioceses of the region.
Is there only one Holy Spirit or are there seven Spirits? Of course there is only one Holy Spirit, but He has seven main gifts to give to the faithful, and John, in the verse above was referring to the fullness of His been as the Spirit of God. So let’s keep in mind that when the number seven is mentioned, it doesn’t necessarily mean six plus one, but, 100%.
Let’s bring the first verses of Chapter 17, so we can have a better view of it.
(Revelation 17:1) One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits on many waters. (2) With her the kings of the earth committed adultery and the inhabitants of the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her adulteries.”
(3) Then the angel carried me away in the Spirit into the desert. There I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns. Nothing in the above description of the “woman” says anything about a “religion,” however, there is the description of a powerful and influential nation (city) (18) The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.”
So let me ask you: could you think of a country so powerful rich and influential that exists today, that has control over many other nations? Is there a nation that has gotten the world drunk with its movies, immorality, music, and customs? Is there a nation today whose money has bought the pride and dignity of many small nations?
Anybody who thinks that the Catholic Church exercises power over the nations, is absolutely wrong, because the Church can’t even control its own followers, in other words is an organization without any real influence in world affairs.
The city built on seven hills is identified by the fundamentalists as
That word is better translated as 'mountain' and not hill; besides the 'mountains' and 'mounts' are usually referred to in the Bible with kingdoms, or in this case may be referring to seven kingdoms with which the 'woman' has something in common.
But let's say, that in this case the word 'horos' means hills, we still have the problem that there are other cities built on seven hills, like: Israel and Istambul; but we'll accept that the Bible passage refers to Rome; we would still have the argument that 'Vatican City' does not exist on any of the seven hills of Rome, but on Vatican Hill (Collis Vaticanus), which is located on the west side of the Tiber river, while Rome is located on the east side of the river.
Besides, all of the above, the angel said to John: . (9) This call for a mind of wisdom. The seven heads are seven hills on which the woman sits. (10) They are also seven kings.
In other words, the seven ‘heads’ of the beast, are not just seven hills,
Unless, we want to take only the meaning that fits our intentions and purpose.
If we look closely at the beast and the woman, she (the woman) is the intelligent been of the two, she also 'sits' on top of the beast, which denotes power and control over the monster, the beast by having seven heads denotes disunity, even though it is strong as the verse in (Revelation 13:2) shows us; by having the components of three powerful animals.
For example:
The beast represents systems of government, nations and political and ideological systems that could be apply at different times of history; any animal or been with more than one head is a monstrosity, and the many different heads won’t allow the monster to do anything, since one head might contradict what another head desires. And that, is to the advantage of the one (the woman)that controls the beast; maybe that’s why the tyrants of the world love to apply the principle of: “Divide and conquer.”
Let’s now look at the woman, the fact that she dresses in purple and scarlet does not mean, that she actually prefers those two colors, but instead it denotes royalty ( been very rich); like the kings of the Arab nations and the billionaires and millionaires of the world today.
Because of her fortune, she could afford to use golden cups, but this is only a figure of the opulence in which she lives.
Let’s remember that the prophets of old, would use the word ‘prostitution’ in reference to the practice of a false religion, or the religion of the pagans; but that does not mean that ‘prostitution’ is exclusive of religious people, no, we see how today many people prostitute themselves for the love of money; specially the politicians.
Ezekiel 16: 1-3, 26
"Thus the word of the LORD came to me: Son of man, make known to
(26) You played the harlot with the Egyptians, your lustful neighbors, so many times that I was provoked to anger."
Jeremiah 2:1-2, 17-20
"This word of the LORD came to me: Go, cry out this message for
(17) Has not the forsaking of the LORD, your God, done this to you ? And now, why go to
And showing no fear of me, says the Lord, the GOD of hosts. Long ago you broke your yoke, you tore off your bonds. ‘I will not serve,’ you said. On every high hill, under every green tree, you gave yourself to harlotry."
Jeremiah 3:1-2,6-8
(6) The Lord said to me in the days of King Josiah: ‘Have you seen what she did, that faithless one,
